Spoilery reviews
A and I had our boy ogling night tonight instead of tomorrow since she fell into manure. Had to take her home and hose her off after I had finished laughing my ass off.
We had a lengthy discussion over a beer on which show to watch first and man got tired and plugged in the SPN USB. I have no say with that one *glares*
Holy, that man is gorgeous. Show's morale still irks me off. I wonder if fandom is up in arms about the necrophilia this time? I mean Jimmy is dead and I don't know if a married man giving up his body for angel duty is as gung-ho about visiting a whorehouse as Dean is. Dean, in fact is facilitating necrophilia if we are to judge by fandom's previous stand on the issue. But then again, I doubt it since it's Dean and he can do nothing wrong. Oh Fandumb, thou art such a hypocrite!
The whole Dean/Cas story seemed like a total fanservice and it didn't bring anything new to the story. Just messed up the entire mythology again. The powers are a mess (what can Cas do and what can't he?? Is he suddenly going human now and how is that even possible?) the angel hierarchy is not even established well. suddenly a fallen angel and a human can kick an archangel's ass? God has just been gone 2 centuries? You mean earlier times were better? Like when females were burnt in witch-hunts? Gimme a break, that's just idiotic.
And please, Dean and Cas, would you quit the growly voices? Both of you? Makes you sound rather ridiculous IMHO. And please stop the over acting while you're at it. The potty-mouth does not charm me at all. It's not necessary to divert into a rebellious teen and go off with your mouth in every angel-scene, Dean! Thank you very much. Even if you're missing you brother so much you are about to burst in your seams. Still not necessary.
Kripke, please, let Dean evolve just a little, thank you very much. Just switching one object for another does not mean you're cured from your co-dependent issues. The scenes were mildly amusing but that one line: about every working girl's choices or lack of choices, being the result of an absent father? Holy smoke, Kripke, women do not mean anything in your world, do they? And please, if you re going to create your own cosmology, don't build it on an existing one and tweak it around so it suits you, regardless of plot holes. It's just stupid.
Just as stupid as setting ring of fire in a hospital room. *facepalm*
JPad was stellar as always. Thank God he is not over-acting but instead kind of keeping it mellow and using his body (no pun intended) to give weight to his words and moods, underlining them without having to go overboard with the emotions. I was afraid Kripke would have Sam crying on the hood of the Impala and explaining his immense pain. Yikes! JPad is allowed to act it and I'm grateful for that.
A had a giggle spout at Sam meeting the hunters. They did look like midgets. r But that's the usual JPad effect. Her eyes were suspiciously glued to the screen during the naked chest scenes. We watched them like three times in a row, because we're clearly deeply disturbed and A was mad Dean didn't get a half-nekkid scene. She's so not touching my JPad! *smacks her*
Sam kissed the devil and the devil wants Sam's body. *hysterical giggle* Well it was clear from 4.09. The dragging out of the 'it had to be you, Sam' is irritating. I guess the why will be dealt with in 5.21. This is after all the Dean/Cas show so dragging Sam's arc out is inevitable. I wish that they'd given me a little more Sam/Jess though. And Sam is constantly taking all the blame for the Apocrap? Retcon or something that will blow up in someone's face later on? Still, fandumb calls Sam an irresponsible, immature liar. Yeah right.
This broke my heart more than anything

So much love

and so much confusion. Jared and Adrienne managed to portray such intimacy in this scene. It was clear that their relationship was one of equal strength.
This gesture almost brought tears to my eyes

Sam still loves her. After all these years, Sam still loves her and my heart breaks for him all over. And I bet Lucy got a kick out of Sam kissing his neck. *insane giggle*
Enjoyed the Sam parts because they actually brought the story forward. The Cas/Dean parts with the clunky and slapstick humor made me miss earlier season's more subtle humor. Seems Kripke hasn't decided what to really do with Cas yet because his personality swings from left to right depending on Dean's needs. He's not really a character per se yet.
So this was one of the three eps I will watch this season, I'll give it a C, but Jared and Marc get A's. Pellegrino was perfectly creepily nice! The humor just didn't make me laugh nearly enough like it did in BDABR. It felt too clunky and dependent on potty-mouthed language.
just found the numbers: 2.76 million. A little down from last week's and if the trend is like this. The patten is clear and this is undoubtedly the last season. I am relieved. The Cas/Dean show is obviously not the hit Kripke expected it to be. I could have told him that!
Geez, cut off the hand like that and then have cats eat the remains? They are not natural scavengers y the way, they are hunters. Just so you know. Dogs are the ones that eat everything dead. Quit crapping on cats! Man we truly are going back to the dark ages! And then, the body in the trunk! We stopped munching on the chip at that point. I'm not easily squicked, but that was jut appalling! ''I really enjoy the complexities of the cases in Bones, but damned, I wanted to know what was on that USB! Still. leaving it ope was indeed more satisfying than fabricating some lame info that is supposed to be that valuable. It's nice to know that they actually e able to tell a story and not overdo it until it gets ridiculous. That's exactly what they avoided by not revealing the contents. Kudos! I feel no need to pick this ep apart to criticize it and that is testament enough that the show works.
I loved Sweets in this, he is so growing on me with each episode. The dryness of his humor is right op my alley. The indination of his trade being ridiculed. At the constant mention of his age. "At least I tuck myself in," was such a silly thing to say and still I giggled. Wendell is a sweetheart too; he loves his Mom!
And Bones at the end with the little speech that came off so perfectly wrong even if she didn't mean it. I so love that about Bones; she speaks the truth, regardless of the fact that it may hurt if analysed on a pure emotional basis. Booth just takes it and retaliates in his own manner. I adore their dynamic, there's always that little competitive edge there, it's like watching a fencing match between two athletes from different camps with the same goal. Amuses me greatly.
I give it a strong A-. Solid, intriguing case, the cat thing just peeved me! I'm sensitive when it come to kittens! Some scenes just plain grossed me out. The acting was stellar all around and I guess that's the difference between a big network show and CW,
But alas. they don't so Langston is the one that does the Grissom-line. And it falls flat somehow. And it immediately threw me off the ep and my attention wandered too much for me from the get go. The opening camera work was fun, until it dragged on forever and lost the impact.
Let me stop here and flail for Nick. I got me some neck-porn. I got the new bug-man Nick, clearly scared but he's not letting some pesky crawlers hold him back. I got Eads acting his beautiful ass off. I don't get the industry, I really don't. Eads is a master, I bow before him and he's not up front and center? WTF? I really only looked with interest when i heard Nicky's voice. the rest jut slipped me by.
Eads and Padalecki's acting styles are rather alike and their strength is very much the physical acting and thy both come right through the screen. I adore them both and I hate producers that sell great actors out to please wailing fans. FU! Both Eads and Padalecki are so clearly LEAD ACTORS. Period.
I'm not much for gun-porn but that scene when Nick follows the perp with his gun drawn, methodically cold in his pursuit had me flailing. You could feel his determination. Geez, the kinks the man is giving me! *shudder*
And the last Nick and Greg with spider Stevie and Nick and Cath scenes felt like the old CSI, I squeed. And drooled. George did that 'aw crap. she got me' smile perfectly.
I still feel I get Langston pushed down my throat and I just tune out when he has solo scenes. And that was what destroyed the ep for me. Langston is too much and I'm just as off CSI as I am SPN. Won't watch other than Nicky-centric eps. This case did not hold my interest at all. I'm sorry CSI, you get a B, except for George who gets a big freaking A despite his background role. Shame on you producers!
