Brendan Fehr on Bones?

Wow! I didn't even know he was still in the industry! It's so nice to see old acquaintances!

I love how the team protects each other. The only thing I do fear is a Booth/Bones romance, but I think it's inevitable. It may ruin the show, I hope they do this one right. And Sweets *hugs tight* he is the quite-essential non-geeky geek, since apparently psychology isn't science. I beg to differ and I'm sure Sweets does too. This case was very convoluted, that's the cases I love, but Bones has furthermore gotten into that category that I care deeply about the characters so the cases are falling to the background. I do think they did a little too much to paint Booth as the perfect guy, don't please don't, go any further with that. Keep personal growth linked to the cases you did good with that before. Child-abuse and paternal role too? Do not step over the very thin line into GaryStueing him to something I will cringe at watching. He's pretty perfect, don't botch him up now!

I'm pissed about the fact that most minor sibling are painted as being screw-ups. I take that personally, yo! We're just more left to our own while growing up and tend to be less tied down by expectations of parents and thus, from society. It's the quintessential self-fulfilling prophecy. See the sibling order is not set in stone, it changes as the psyche develops, it mutes with situation and focus. We are not born to be failures thank you very much media.

And Tony - the character I would usually be the least interested in is made so lovable thanks to Michael Wheaterly.
The bad boy with a golden heart is usually the character everybody loves and I end up being bored to death by. Not in this case. MW makes the archetype deeper and more believable because the 'every chick falls for me' angle is toned down and turned on its head. Tony tries but he really isn't getting that much for his efforts. And his heart of gold has just the right amount of selfishness to make it real. I so need to make more icons.

And this was another convoluted case, it kept me guessing. And oh, Gibbs, your love for Tony shines right through despite the head slaps. Gibbs admitted that Tony was a lot like him, standing up to Leon. That's big of Gibbs. Ziva's: "Give them a few days!" totally cracked me up. She is the essence of loving sarcasm and goes so well with Tony's version that is more pointed. Poor Probie doesn't have a chance with those two and Abby's just killing him with her intuitive intelligence too. He shines with his pragmatic knowledge thou, so yeah, the team is perfect. Wonderful ep as usual, and these producers are also aware that character growth needs to be linked to the cases

See, tha'st where Carol Mendelsohn dropped the spoon and it's never gonna find the bowl again. CSI was made into a soap with the romance and it's getting worse and worse with the emo!Grissom crying and pining. I adore Nick, I cheer for him and his dismissals of Griss. See, you told Nick once that it had to be over, why not take your own friggen advice. Nick did, and it's apparent that he's harboring everything inside. And dude! What he went through was far worse than getting ditched. He's also lost his best friend, and he's still hanging in there doing his job while you are all over the screen with your teeny wub and broken heart. It's not interesting, it's tiresome and old.

CM. you need to grow up!

I think that I'm really done now with CSI. *lol* Normally I would watch at least the Nick scenes of all the new episodes, but I'm just not interested anymore. Everytime I read the reviews and comments about the new crapisodes on Talk CSI or nick_disussion, then I'm already so pissed off that I don't want to download it. It seems that all we've got so far is Emo!Grissom, who is the only one who is effected by Warrick's death and Nick who acts like nothing happened again. I'm tired of it, as long as we don't get a good "Nick grieving" - and "Talk with Grissom" scene, I won't watch this crap again.
I also gave up with making new Nick icons, either I can't find any good pics of him or I have no fun making them.
I never thought that I would lose interest in Nicky, but TPTB did a good job in bringing me to this point. =(

But there are other TV shows which are better than CSI, my new fave is "Pushing daisies". =)

[identity profile] starbright73.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, I agree. Nick can't save this mess and I am so mad at GE not bailing. He's wasting his talent and it may be too late for him.

He should have gone a long tie ago. George Eads, just like Jared Padalecki, are too good for they shit they are contracted to do.

I miss your icons as much as I miss my Nicky.

[identity profile] bine83.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, I don't know why he or even Marg are still on the show, they deserve more than that. A few weeks ago I read an interview with Gary and he didn't talk very nicely about CSI. I wonder if George will tell us the truth when he'll leave the show at some time, because none can tell me that this shity treatment he (or better his character Nick) got over the last seasons didn't bother him.

A part of me is sad that I'm losing interest in the show, because right now I could use a good distraction from all the shit which happens in my real life, but maybe it's about time to go on and find other things or shows.

Thanks. =) It's not that I don't want to make icons, but it seems that people stopped with making pics of the new episodes. *lol*
And I don't want to use the old pics over and over again. But I also have moments where I open GIMP to make new icons and after a few seconds I don't want to make them anymore. I don't know why I feel like this lately.

I haven't seen Bones yet but I love it that BF was in it. I do miss him so it is always good to see old friends pop up here and there.

As for Tony I totally agree. At first he drove me nuts until I took a closer look at him and now he is one of my favs - and I too credit MW for that. I think his commentaries are what really made me fall in love with him.

I personally admit that I get confused by his and Gibbs relationship- it is so subtle that I miss things- but I it really is special.

I just hope they destroy the show but following in CSI footsteps and have Tony and Ziva in a relationship. They work great as friends but to do more would be the kiss of death for me. Look at what they did to Sara! Ziva is so kick ass and I would hate to see her become like Sara - you know all about the love aspect and nothing else.

On a pruely selfish mode - yes you need to make more Tony icons!!! I totally agree!!!

As for CSI - I just don't have the stamina to say how sad the show makes me. LOVE Nick but I doubt even he can save his sinking ship!

Baby-probie was awesome! I wonder if we will see more of him? But o the other hand i fear for cast bloating a la CSI!

I trust MW ever since Dark Angel. Since he's not type cast, like some I won't mention, I knew from the get go that there was more to the role that met the eye. I trust there won't be a Tony/Ziva romance either. MW can do so much more without having to fall into the 'I am da sex-bomb' and I get every girl. I love MW almost as much as I love George Eads and JP and that's a miracle since hes blond. *laughs at self*. He doesn't have to rely on his sex-appeal alone, he proved that on DA. He's one of the actors whose work I follow just because of his talent and he's reason I started watching NCIS. I totally trust MW.

I haven't seen either Cote or Pauley in anything else (see, I'm lousy at pop-culture!), but they are both awesome actresses and I trust they would never stoop to upping their appeal by going after the alpha-male on the show. They are just too good for that. Have no fears.

More Toy is coming up I have the weekend totally off so I'm going to get as creative as I can.

[identity profile] pruehall.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You know the intresting thing is that almost all the commentaries mention that MW is the one who adds all those things that we love about Tony. Evidently he is the only one on the set that is allowed to add lib. The shows creator even stated that he had know idea who Tony was when he started the show but that MW was the one who sort of "found" him.

I liked him on Dark Angel but this role impresses me. You think you know who Tony is and then you find out you don't. I love that!

Anyway after last weeks episode I have given up on CSI - however I have started to watch CSI:NY. I am not sure if I like it but at least I like NY better than LV anyway ;-P.

Good news for me though- more Tony icons- always and epic win!!

PS- How much did you love Baby Probie?!! I so hope he is not a bad guy - LOVED HIM!

[identity profile] high-striker.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you on Bones. Though I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in season 1 or so that he had a younger brother, so it'd have been a little pointless to change it. Even without the mention though... probably still would have been the way it was. =/ I think it worked here better than anywhere else I've seen it though.

And either way- I absolutely loved it when Bones pushed him right off the stool.

I also think that the drunk father aspect actually fit to a degree now that I think about it. Just thinking back to the season one finale, where Booth tells Bones about his parents' jobs/careers, and then tells her that all parents have 'secret lives'... well, guess we know what the 'secret' life was now. =/

And lol, I loved Angela's real Booth vs. light Booth speech. :)

I'm the same way with the cases. They just have to be mildly interesting for me to be drawn into the episode. And I thought the link worked quite well myself. It wasn't overt or blatantly obvious, but the whole con-man and just tricking/fooling everyone, the dishonesty, I felt those aspects connected the case with the personal stuff well enough. I like that it's not always spelled out, or way too blatantly in line with each other (I mean, every episode of CSI since the premiere- the cases have so blatantly resembled Grissom's fucked up life... which is just way too over the top). It allows viewers to make connections, at least the connections are there in my opinion- like with Bones' speech when the dog she wanted to adopt was a parallel story to Zack...

That's just my take. It wasn't the greatest episode, but I think it'll work out in the end. As for Booth/Bones... well, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them hook up at the very end of the series, but it definitely shouldn't happen before that time comes. So I don't want to see it happen anytime soon. ;)

And yeah- Grissom sucks, and CM... both are made of fail.

[identity profile] starbright73.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh the push rocked! I have to to make an icon of that!

I can stad that the series ends with a hook.up but if it's brought to the front like in CSI I'm afraid I have to bail out. Like I did with X-Files when the leads started knocking boots. I don't know but it irks me too much. I can't stand the overly schmoopy love stories, those belong to fanfic. If I see them played out on screen I usually just wanna scream.

But then again, booth doesn't make my ovaries explode like GE or JPad does so maybe that's why. He's a splendid actor but he's not sex on legs for me like certain others are. Sometimes i hate myself for always falling for the wrong guys.

I just hope they don't mess Booth up royally, I like him the way he is now; real. A bit of dark back story is alright, just don't let it take over the character, please!

[identity profile] imjustso.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't even know he was still in the industry!

What? You didn't see him in Samurai Girl (http://abcfamily.go.com/abcfamily/path/section_Specials+Samurai-Girl/page_Detail)? That was a quality piece of . . . yeah . . . he was in it. After they crapped out his character on CSI Miami, where I actually didn't hate him. He will always be Michael Guerin to me, and therefore annoying. I wish he'd get that thing removed from his face; it's distracting. My dislike of him (which started the first season of Roswell, when I first saw him) made me somewhat happy that his character turned out to be a fuckup. Despite that, I thought he was better in this show than in anything else I have seen him do. I really liked the episode, with the exception of Brennan's birthday toast. And it irritated me that Jared called her Tempe - only her brother calls her that; no one else is allowed. I have been surprised at how well I have liked this season because I am used to having shows go down the tubes by season three. Maybe my life has just gotten so pathetic that this season seems . . . nah . . . my life was pretty pathetic during season 1 though 3 as well.

As for NCIS, I was not all that thrilled. It was *OK* but not great. Tony was kind of more annoying than usual, imo. I keep wondering how Gibbs just randomly went from thinking Langan was a bad guy to suspecting Lee. Did I miss something? The fact that she used the elevator three times made him suspect her? Did I miss an episode? That intern/probie agent was just missing the short pants and neckerchief of a boy scout uniform. His hair even looked like him mom had combed it into place because he skipped off to school. Ziva did make a good zinger at the beginning. She and Tony do have good chemistry, espeically with the sarcasm.

I recall mentioning The Mentalist to you after the pilot aired. Did you have watch any of the episodes? Simon Baker's character is my new TV crush. Granted, I shall have a completely different TV crush in six months, or sooner if the show gets cancelled . . . actually, it being cancelled will send me into a deep depression and I shall be inconsolable until the next season of new shows. I get so broken hearted when good shows get cancelled. *sigh* I was recently wondering if I just think that all he good shows get cancelled because they get cancelled before they have a chance to become utter crap. *cough csi cough* For example, I loved Moonlight, but I have to admit it probably would have gotten bad before too long.

[identity profile] starbright73.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The Mentalist is on my hard drive together with the last two eps of Dexter, waiting to be watched. I want more hour in the day!

I was never hoo-haa over Rosweell and I actually liked Micheal more than that other one, whose name I can't even recall, but I didn't actually drool over wither guy. And I never watch season 3, too painful after the second ep. And you're right season 3 seems to be the death of most shows. *looks at SPN and pukes*

My two current tv.crushes are being treated like crap right now and I am ot getting another and ruining more shows! I only have Bones and NCIS and the Sam-centirc eps of SPN which are like max 2 for every season so I've gotten mine for this season. *cries*

Hey I hate perfect faces, they repel me! Each and every one of my tv-crushes are far from perfect. Just look:
